My Birthday Present

Today is my birthday.  I've been holding at 29 for longer than I care to admit.

It was a good day, though.  Patrick took me to Houston to eat at Pappasito's, and then he bought me a treadmill.  Yes, I asked for one.  Otherwise, I might have worried that his present was a 'hint'.  We looked at a bunch of them before he purchased one.  None of them looked as big in the store as this one looks in my living room!  I gave no thought as to where I might put a treadmill, I just knew that one was in order.  Since I quit my reporter job to write full time, there's some sort of weird gravitational pull going on in all the wrong places.  And since my sister-in-law bailed on playing tennis with me (yes, you Melody), my extra few pounds is actually her fault anyway.  Just the same - gotta incorporate some exercise into my day.  Check this out.  Who says men don't read the instructions?

   So many pieces!
But he had it all put
together in about 20
minutes.

My plan is to take breaks from
writing during the day and read
a book while I walk.  Someone
actually suggested I prop my
laptop on it and write while I walk.
No, no, no.  This is for my time
away from writing.  Now I just
gotta find a place to put it!

Anyway - that's my plan.  We'll see how it goes!

Happy Happy Birthday Beth! I started walking on my treadmill again also. My New Years' resolution is to walk one mile a day -- 2 miles takes too long and it becomes tedious, but one mile is just about right. Oh, by the way, I tried reading while walking & it doesn't work for me (but my treadmill is pretty old and yours probably will allow you to walk and read at the same time)----- but it is a good time to meditate with God.
