A Blessed Christmas...
Thanks so much for all the great comments on my last post, about what you would like to see on this blog. I'll try to cover all of that, but I thought I would just share a few pics of our Christmas for now.
On Christmas Day, we went to my mom's house. It's the same house I grew up in, and I love going there for Christmas. I love my mom's cooking, and I can almost feel my dad there even though this Christmas it had been five years since he left for Heaven. I miss him the most this time of year. After watching me write for most of my life, he never saw my dream come true in the form of a published novel. I'd like to think he knows and is watching me from above, proud of the messages I'm trying to share with readers.
The day after Christmas, we had my husband's family at our home. Since we just moved in June, it was the first time to have everyone to our new house. It was a super special day - about twenty of us. Instead of the traditional turkey, dressing, etc., we had all kinds of appetizers - spinach dip, cheese dips, stuffed mushrooms, stuffed peppers, finger sandwiches, artichoke dip, shrimp dip, meatballs, potato soup, pickle trays, cheese trays, and tons of desserts.
Both our celebrations were wonderful. Hope you all had a blessed Christmas! Here are a few pics of my family:
I downloaded 62 pics, so too many to post here. Hope you enjoyed the few I shared, and hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
Blessings all,
Beth

This is my 25-year-old son, Eric. He wanted a fire pit since he is living on his own now. It's so cool for me that he opens his presents in the same living room that I opened my presents in the entire time I was growing up. Forty years ago, I was opening up Barbie presents, getting a bike, etc. in that same room. |
|
This is my baby boy, Cory. At eighteen, this was his first time to cut the turkey. My mom said he did a great job! I think he earned this job from now on....probably not what he intended...LOL. |
|
This is my nephew, Zackary. He helped my Lab, Chloe, open her present, then presented it to her! |
|
This is my mother-in-law, Pat. She's the greatest. She cooks for us twice a week since she knows I'm under some pretty heavy deadlines right now. The family gave her this portrait for Christmas. Some of you might remember all the blogs I wrote about the very special bridge by my house. Well, we took our family portrait on that bridge and gave Mom one for Christmas. |

This is me with my niece, Samantha, and my nephew, Zackary -- out in front of our house in the country! |

What a lovely family you have Beth!! Your boys are so handsome!
I am so glad you had a blessed Christmas. I understand about missing your Dad. My Mom passed 7 years ago and I still *feel* her presence at the oddest of times. Sometimes, when I am thinking out loud, I can hear her chiding me in my head. lol. You Dad still loves you and will always be carried with you in your heart.
Merry Christmas Sis..
Kelly

I am Mackelti and I am twelve years old and I just read plain perfect and I felt that I needed to know who you were. I can't describe the whole feeling but I will tell you that you opened my eyes to who the Amish are. I like the book very much and I hope to read Plain Pursuit and all the rest of your wonderful books.I would like to meet you someday. I think you should know a little more about me. I live in Pflugerville Texas and I have nine siblings I am the third oldest. I read as much as I can. I am a Christian and have some questions about the Amish faith. I would like to know your email if you have one my email is mackeltimae@yahoo.com. I would like to meet with you someday but for now I just would like you to email me.
God bless you everyday and let his angels guard your house tonight and every night

Today I would like to say that your Christmas sounds very cheerful and free. Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. I just have one question to ask you today.
Do you know the real reason of Christ-mas?
If you do not I will tell you a little bit about Christmas. It is the day we celebrate Christs birth. Christ is Jesus the one talked about in the Old Testament. He is the one who came to the Earth as the son of Mary with no human father. He died for all of our sins. HE is the messiah.

Hello again I just wanted you to know that your book opened my eyes to the Amish. I still have questions about them but I understand them much, much more.
Thank-you
Someone that would like to be your friend.

You have such a good looking nephew and husband....but then I am a little biased since it is my son and brother. Loved your pictures, especially since I wasn't posted. I do think you picked out the most photo genetic of the family to display.
