Colorado -- Day 2

Patrick and I are still in Bailey, Colorado with our friends Sherry and Tim.  We started the day off with homemade Kolaches that Tim made for breakfast. They were SO good!  Then we decided to work off our food by climbing the mountain behind Tim and Sherry's house!  So, I pretended I was 25-years-old and started the trek up the side of the mountain.  Less than a quarter of a mile up, I started pretending I was 35-years-old and began resting about every 10 feet...especially as it got steeper.  By the time the top of the mountain was in view---about an hour and a half later...there was no more pretending!  I faced up to the fact that I'm 48 and took it slow and easy to the top.  I fell once, but not too bad...and I have to say--it was a great feeling to stand at 10,000 feet elevation.  The view was incredible!

Tomorrow morning we are leaving early for Monte Vista to visit with my Old Order Amish friend.  I THINK there is Internet at the B&B where we are staying. If for some reason I don't post...it's because there is no service there.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Here's some pics from our adventures today!

Me and Patrick at the bottom of the mountain.  I was feeling 25 and ready to go!

Yee-Haw!  Gonna climb the mountain!

Got water!  Got good shoes!  Let's roll!

My 25-year-old self wasn't up to climbing this large rock.  But Hubby jumped right up there!

I'm no longer feeling 25 at this point.  That's all I have to say about that.

Our lovely hostess and tour guide, Sherry, who took most of our pictures.

Taking a much needed break!!

That's their dog, Scooby, on the left, then Patrick, me, and our other tour guide, Tim.

Tim was on bear watch.

I was on bear watch too!!!

View from the top!!

Going down was MUCH easier, even though I lost my footing and my 48-year-old self had a little tumble.

Hope to send pics from Monte Vista tomorrow!

Oh Beth, how I envy you. I just love Colorado. Love those mountains and the views. Although I cannot go very high up into the mountains, the scenery is still just beautiful. Have a safe and fun trip.

Looks like ya'll are having a good time. Don't know that I would want to climb a mountain but so glad you and Patrick made it....what an accomplishment. Good to hear that you did't encounter any bears, oh my.
