Recipe Friday! Amish Pizza Pie!
Happy Friday Everyone!
When I was in Colorado visiting with my Amish friends, one of the things I asked was whether or not they go out to eat much. My friend said that if they do go out to eat, it's usually for pizza. I have one of her cookbooks, and apparently pizza is a favorite because there are several recipes involving pizza---Upside-Down Pizza, Pizza Burgers, Crockpot Pizza, two recipes for Chicken Fajita Pizza, and two recipes for pizza dough...along with the recipe I'm sharing today for Pizza Pie! I haven't tried this recipe, but anything with 2 cups of cheese has my vote! Let us know if you try this!
Pizza Pie
2 c. shredded cheese
8 oz. sour cream
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 c. salad dressing
3 c. hamburger, browned
1 1/2 c. pizza sauce
2 c. cooked spaghetti
Take your favorite pizza dough and put into 2 pie pans. Keep enough for lids. Divide cheese in pie pans. Mix sour cream, salad dressing and mushroom soup. Layer that next, then hamburger, pizza sauce, cooked spaghetti and put on lids. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes. Yield: 2 pies.
This is exactly how the recipe is in the cookbook. My questions -- what kind of cheese? What kind of salad dressing (Miracle Whip or some other dressing?) AND, since they are in Colorado, I wonder if the cooking time is different due to the altitude?
Just in case you're feeling up to it, here's one of the recipes for pizza dough:
Pizza Dough
1 T. yeast
1 c. warm water
3 c. flour
1 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. oil
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar, salt and oil. Mix well. Add flour. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes.
My question: Wonder if this should be kneaded?
I'd love to hear about this Pizza Pie! Looks yummy to me!
Have a wonderful weekend!!
