Recipe Friday, August 5th - Twenty-Four Hour Salad
This is an old, old recipe that you may have had before, but it makes a great cool supper, and should be made ahead of time. I was once brought this as a 'welcome to the neighborhood' offering and it was sure appreciated after a long day of moving.
Twenty-Four Hour Salad
1/2 lb. bacon, fried and crumbled 1 bag peas, uncooked
1 head lettuce 1 pkg shredded cheddar cheese
1 head cualiflower, separated into 1 pt. mayonnaise
bite-size pieces 1 pkg. Ranch dressing mix
In a bowl, layer lettuce, cauliflower, peas and all but 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese. Spread top with mayonnaise, sealing edges. Sprinkle Ranch dressing mix over top. Crumble bacon over dressing. Sprinkle with reserved 1/2 cup grated cheese. Cover tightly with plastic wrap, let stand 24 hours or overnight in refrigerator. Toss and serve immediately.
From an Amish friend in Colorado.
I hope you'll try it and enjoy it. Please report back and let us know.
Have a great weekend!
Blessings,
Beth

Hi Beth,
I make one similiar to this one, it's called a 12 layer salad and it is delicious, but my recipe doesn't call for cauliflower. or ranch dressing....and I make mine in a 9x13 glass dish, makes it much easier to get out of the dish and this way you get some of each layer....if anyone is interested in my recipe, just let me know....
